I found that mine ran like a gutless pig on E10, but got the same sort of economy out of both unleaded and premium.BUT it didn't ping on premium going up a steep hill (Timing set on 6 degrees).
On a trip to Mudgee lately i got 14.2l/100km (50l to do 350kms) and that was sitting on 100km/h as much as i could.

To add to the good points already listed, which way was the wind going? what was the road temp? sounds stupid but when i am at home on the farm we have and old hilux and it can take 5 mins longer to do the same trip with a head wind, also a higher road temp thins out the air which means more work for the engine for the same output. as for 98 vs 95 and 92 i only use 98 in all my cars, i used to work for bp and the difference in contaminants between the fuels was amazing, 98 goes under alot more filtration then 95 and 92, so not only do you get higher octane but you also get less shit clogging your engine

thanx everyone for your thoughts yes we did have the spoiler on before yes there was a strong wind hitting us on the front right most of the trip did put new tyres on same size 245/60x14 same pressure 35psi put a new air filter on before we left and yes it was hot and brakes are all good i think we might just go back to using e10 and normal unleaded thanx again for the help wizard

im not sure of the price but Speco does new shifters for all types a boxes and even do the twin stick for the aussie 4 speed aswell as the normal stick. or i think rare spares do one for a bench seat for about the $280 mark

fuel usage

Post by wizard1 on 26/1/2009, 10:44 pm

looks like we might put a blown small block in the van as our trip to kandos was uneventfull until we went to the bowser 338km on 67lts and that was e10 i wiped clean the inside cannons before we left and apart from a little bit of start up moisture (condensation) they were virtually still clean no soot or the back bumper being black not like we we came back from summernats apart from that it ran like a charm thanx wizard

Cam gears

Post by Ben79hz on 28/2/2009, 8:56 am

Has anyone had problems with camtech cams, fitted ont to my 308 but it will only run with about 40 degrees advanced timing, (2 timing lights used to conferm) and after watching when the rockers cross over on number 1 cylinder found it to be advanced the same as the timing,
Checked timing chain and sproket markings, all as per holden spec, 9 chain links from crank sproket markings to cam markings.
Just wondering if anyone has struck cams not suiting original camshaft sprokets, is the only solution to replace the sprokets with multi adjustable aftermarket ones ?

The motors are earthed internally.
Put power to one pin and the motor spins one way, put power to the other pin and the motor goes the other way.

Do you have an old Semi-automatic aerial switch.(When you push the switch then let it go it returns back to the centre)

Well put the power to the centre wire and the 2 wires which go to the motor , on each side of it.
#NOTE# this is NOT a long term fix as the switch isn't designed to use that much current through it.

There's not a cracker in the members list on Brutle
It says in there that he's never even had a post...!!!!

Do you remember what forumn it was in?
Or was it before Vanning Aust - ie Southern Cross?

Cheers Allan

hey freestyler... here's a shot of Brutle's rearterior from 2007.
probably the post Daz was thinking of was from SXV and had some great shots of some of the work put into flaring the guards etc.

BTW is the sandman's body you intend to do this to already molested? there would be some people who would question the sanity of such a mod to a classic.
