Ford vanner here....

Post by HSV_587 on 21/6/2009, 4:43 pm

Got my first van at 12,a leyland mini pano, and for the last 17 years ive pretty much always had a ford or holden workhorse in the yard....But now ive decided to build one.....
Basis for the project is a XB GS 351 windowless van,but is completly beyond repair, the dreaded falcon rust, and is a shame, coz was quite a looker back in the day,White, with the blue oval logos painted up both sides, cammed 351,sidepipes,big 12 slotters etc,but came across a yellow 6 cyl van with a straight, solid body, but needs restoring....leaning towards lime glaze paint, love that colour, and keep the GT style blackouts.....heres a pic of the 6 cly van....the GS is in peices,at dads house 150 klms away....get pics of the rustwhore soon...

Gotta love the big arse pillarless doors of the early 70's Falcons.....

Looking forward to seeing more of this one........

Contemplated doing it to the XF...... In the too hard basket for the time being.

Ive always been a bit of a XA to XC fan....get it from my father i think....he has 5 of em....but the hardest thing to find is good doors...the coupe boys have taken all the good ones for themselves....

Ahh the memories of my old yellow sundowner, would love to have a stock bodied XB or XC van again, good to see a nice clean one around.

Well, the yellow van pictured I saved from going to the rusty fordpit in the sky.....it was being used as a dog kennel on a rural property.....starter motor gave up the ghost a few years beforehand,so he just parked it under a tree and left the back doors open for the dog.....

The white one XB GS 351(not pictured yet) was owned by a fella who was a bit of a larrikin....It was the mid 80s,and he would love nothing more then to have quite a few at the local pub,and drive it home....but had to go past the local police station to get home....pretty hard to do quietly with twin sidepipes Shocked ......got caught in the end, lost his licence, van ran outta rego
......
and sat there,in a yard near a beach Exclamation ...till it was nothing more than a pile of rust.....had to gaffa tape the windscreen in when we towed it home.....had rusted all the way around....and the pillar cracked when we took the windscreen out... lol!
