His van has got over 500,000kms

Don't let the kays scare ya..... Mr Bumpy had 857,000 on when his motor got the flick.... doing 27kph top speed the 100 odd k's home from Sway's was what finally convinced me it had it day!!!!!!
Didn't start cold on gas for the last 12months, they tell me you need compression to draw it into the cylinders, was a manual too so when ya geared down the motor just rev'd harder speed stayed the same!!!!

Stuck a secondhand motor in it and I went to Broken Hill with Maz & the gang...... really thought I'd be the early departure on a tow truck, but Mr Bumpy hung in there..... on the bumpstops the whole way!!!!!

Even if it's a tired old engine, if you look after it, treat it right, it will do the same for you.....
Cruise on 90 on the freeways, stop more than you normally would for a break and let her rest, check the vital fluids & you will be surprised how far a tired old engine will go.....

wow!! now thats a fair few km's hahaha!!!

yea my old man tells me the same thing, treat her and she will treat u right. its not actually the engine that id be worried about, its more the gearbox, ive had to hav the bands tightened twice in the last 9months cause it was doin the same as wat u described, dropping down a gear would mean it would rev heaps harder but still stay the same speed hahaha!!

but i hav driven it on long trips b4, once to brisbane, the other to dubbo, so i spose as long as the box holds up id make it hahaha.

but i must admit its running alrite at the moment tho Very Happy

yeah, that's what happens, mine's a crunch box sort of... the linkages are worn, had them tightened and its better, but sometimes it still crunches when i change gears, so long as i take my time makin the changes, it's ok... guess i should stop racing (Hahahahaha) away from the lights.... not that there's much to race with....but oh just wait.... Very Happy and yes, treat em gently and they'll last a lot longer
