Vans at Bright Rod Run

Post by Mexican on 9/11/2008, 11:32 am

Well just made it back from a great weekend. Drove up Friday in the Rain and wind that was doing its best to pick me up and place me in the next lane (wind loves throwing model A pickups around), rained all night Friday, showers yesterday then great sunshine today. Thermo packed it in on the way back and the exhaust minor hole, that is now totally broken through, now has my rod sounding F%#N great!!
Any how here are some of the vans I saw.

Steve Aldrick owns this (same one that was at the Picnic)

My old Fb now owned by Jodie, first time I have seen it since I sold it to her 4 years ago

This I saw on the way up, but do you think I could find it to get a good pic. A bedford with ZF fairlane taillights and wood panels, with signage number plate woodee. AWESOME RIG, White walls, and side pipes.

For those who have never been, this is the reason you go, great cruzin, heaps of people, all kicking back having a great time with NO politics. BRIGHT ROD RUN is the BEST.

Found these three in the carpark today

This past me on the way home, didn't see it at bright

Hey Daz,
Yeah got to as many as I could. Some had heard about it so you are doing a great job. Trying to Get Sean Hammond (guy with green HR van) to come to get some good pix. Found out a guy I know, Steve Aldrick, owns the white XR van, sweet ride, he seemed keen. Mate the Beddy was in my top 10 of the run. Bloody thing wouldn't sit still or was hiding. I didn't have the camera in the cab on the way up, and checked it out with out the camera Friday night, but then missed it today, as I pulled into the servo it was going out. Want to see it again, one sweet ride.

Great pics Alex. Oh which one would i choose....???? They all look great. That aqua EHPVAN is the one a friend of mine saw a while ago going up the Hume. I'd posted a pic (or raised a query) on the forum somewhere asking if anyone new about it. It does look very neat! Well done Alex, look forward to seeing any other pics you care to post of the run. Re the rain, yeah was thinking of you guys on Friday last week - poor Bright Rod Run washed out again... But Murphy didn't have his way for a change and you finally had some sunshine.... Very Happy

Pleased you like the pix.
Agro- Most of the rod runs have been ongoing for ages or institutions. Best sorce is Cruzin Mag, Pinky's web page, or even ozerodders forum, and of course some are starting to put them up here (which is great!!)
Cruise nights are proving popular (note to self must get along to a few this summer)
Big Bunny- The C Cab has been around for ages, I think over 10 years or more. Owner is a member of Northern Suburbs Rod Club (host club for Bright). Last year there was a yellow one there too.
Maz- Yeah the rain caused a bit of fun, a rod got written off as it aquaplanned and rolled (all ok). You know what its like here, you want rain organise 3 events (a horse race, John picnic or Bright tends to always rain) and if you want heat organise a tennis match Jan always hot.

God I hope not Maz!
Sad thing is i keep seeing them, gotta admit they can look awesome.... one day I might get the erge, but not yet. LOL
Hey how are the plans for the inside going?? I reckon you should just cut loose and be guided on what you think looks great. Get a whole lot of MDF and start having fun, now to only work out how the dragons are going to fit...

Bedford Woody

Post by peterparker on 25/11/2011, 2:58 am

Hi Guys,

Just letting you know that the cool red Bedford with wood panels is a 1976 CF, the same guy has owned it for over 20 years, a builder from Eltham, it IS his everyday work van, not just for looks;) It also recently got an engine upgrade so it now sounds fantastic too.
