you should be able to get the rear brakes and get the axles with the disc and hand brake cable to bolt under your pano diff housing from a prem or statesman. the rule in NSW about 4 wheel disc is because your going the injected 5L. the V8 c'dores have discs all round. you dont need disc all round if you bolt up the injection on a red 308. by the letter of the law in this state. you must meet the pollution laws for the engine block. use a red block and really dont need cats either. thats why i have unleaded top end on a red block.

maby injection not so good

Post  Mans Ruin on 7/2/2010, 10:07 pm

hey all, according to the 3 engineers ive managed to get info out of without stumping up cash first, because my van is 1)Unregistered, and 2)a factory six, because of not only the cubes upgrade but the injection i have to run th 4 wheel discs, also the rule about going by the emissions to suit block eg. hq block, that law has changed (at least in vic) now you have to meet emissions to suit that motor, cats, charcoal canister, unleaded filler on fuel tank etc. so its either disc rear (plus like 1200 friggin dollars for certificates) or bugger it all of and go back to carby. Crying or Very sad Mad Shocked bom
Cheers Rick

Most engineers will op'd for a better performing braking system if it was easily available for the model.

My XF, 351 conversion.... required Rear brakes changed from drum to Disc, that was 1988 it was done.

Disc arse ends are an easy and straight forward change as most of you are aware. Just sourcing it is the issue.

I would kick and scream if they wanted 4 spot calipers or over the top Brembo's fitted..... to all 4's.

I must say, the van stops a hell of a lot better with 4 wheel disc than any onther XF I have ever driven.

re disc conversion

Post  Mans Ruin on 8/2/2010, 10:48 am

yeh it is hard to get a disc setup, also ive heard that there is issues with handbrake brackets fouling on leaf springs.
a friend suggested getting a borgy out of a ba falcon ute as they a suited to leaf springs, or even a borgy out of a vn vp bombodore and modding it to fit (mounting bracket, track etc)
And yeah Ltd, id like that engineers number from sale, thatd be sweet as.
Thank everyone
Rick

The engineer that did mine is in Bayswater if it's closer to you than Sale.

More opinions the better!
